About

The ESSKA-Pittsburgh fellowship is a fully funded 12-months annual research fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Center. The fellows will work directly with Prof. Volker Musahl and Prof. Freddie H. Fu.

The department of Orthopaedic Surgery has several laboratories with focus on biomechanics, in vivo kinematics, molecular biology, and tissue engineering. The focus of the fellowship will be on knee and shoulder and the fellow can choose from different laboratories. Fellows will also be able to observe in clinic, operating room, and on the sports field.

This fellowship covers living, travel and other minor expenses.

Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • be at least 2 years into residency training
  • be an European citizen
  • speak English fluently
  • make yourself available for the duration of the Fellowship
  • be prepared to submit a written report at the end of the programme
  • be/become an ESSKA member
