App-based quadrant method analyzing femoral tunnel position in ACL-R

Description

The app "ACL-X" (Linova Software GmbH, Munich, Germany) is a tool that enables intuitive analysis of tunnel positions utilizing the quadrant method. The objective of this study was to analyze intra- and interobserver reliability of the app-based quadrant method for determining femoral tunnel position.

Methods

• Retrospectiv study, n= 50, primary ACLR, 4 observers, rerun by 2 observers after 4 weeks

Results

• Pearson‘s c.c. DR/HR: observer 1→ 0.94/0.81; observer 2 → 0.92/0.85

• ICC DR/HR: 0.92/0.84

• On average  59 ± 16 seconds per measurement

Conclusion

• The app-based quadrant method has almost perfect intra- and interobserver reliability

• "ACL-X" can provide a quick and reliable control of the femoral tunnel position

• Especially for inexperienced surgeons or in revision surgery, the method could be a useful support
