High prevalence of patellar dislocation in an isolated society

Description

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of patellar dislocation and trochlear dysplasia in the Faroe Islands, a country located in the North Atlantic Ocean with a unique geographical and genetic isolation. The national cohort study conducted found that the prevalences of both patellar dislocation and trochlear dysplasia were much higher compared to the rest of the world. This suggests a possible familial association in the development of trochlear dysplasia.
