Since the role of valgus producing high tibial osteotomy (HTO) in the treatment of advanced knee osteoarthritis (OA) is still controversial, the Authors performed a systematic review of the literature to assess survivorship and clinical outcomes of high tibial osteotomy in patients with radiological advanced medial knee OA. The survivorship was defined as the percentage of patients free of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) at follow-up, and the clinical results were yielded by assessment of patient-reported outcomes (PROMs). Results showed that HTO in patients affected by advanced OA resulted in high survivorship from TKA and good clinical outcomes even at long-term follow-up.
