Description
The iliotibial band plays a significant role in the biomechanics of patellar tracking and loading. We describe the anatomy of the iliotibial band and the influence it contributes to patellar pathology. We follow on to describe a novel surgical technique for the treatment of patients with mild to severe patellofemoral osteoarthritis and present a retrospective review in a cohort of 50 patients in this patient population.
