Description
Although many surgeons still prefer a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) as treatment of isolated patellofemoral joint (PFJ) osteoarthritis (OA), the increased invasiveness, bone loss, and the risk of subsequent revisions in younger patients have led to an increasing interest in PFJ arthroplasty. The aims of the present study were (1) to evaluate the survival of the patellofemoral joint replacement in a large cohort of patients from an Italian regional arthroplasty registry and (2) to collect clinical outcomes of a subgroup of patients. The PFJ replacement showed good survival and clinical outcomes and could be considered a valuable option for patients affected by isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis.
