Metatarsal Head Translation and IMA Increase in MICA for Hallux Valgus

Description

The study analyzes the results of 20 patients who had hallux valgus correction surgery using the MICA technique. It focuses on assessing the translation of the metatarsal head and changes in the intermetatarsal angles (IMA and D-IMA) before and after surgery. Findings showed a significant shift from the preoperative IMA to the postoperative D-IMA. Additionally, a strong positive linear correlation was found between the degree of metatarsal head translation and the postoperative increase in D-IMA, suggesting that while the MICA technique effectively corrects deformities, it also may inadvertently lead to an increase in D-IMA.
