There are few reports on the injury mechanism and epidemiology of medial collateral ligament (MCL) knee injuries in rugby. The purpose of this study was to investigate the injury severity and time of return of MCL injuries in professional rugby players over the past nine years. By standardizing the activity level, the characteristics of the injury mechanism and prognosis could be investigated in more detail.
