Description
Meniscus roots are a vital component of the meniscus and biomechanical studies have shown medial meniscus posterior root tear (MMPRT) to be functionally and biomechanically comparable with a total meniscectomy. In recent times there has been a shift toward MMPRT-repair. However, there are limited data of the outcomes after MMPRT-repair.
To evaluate subjective patient reported outcome after MMPRT repair and to assess the total failure rate after repair.
The total failure rate was 37%. In addition, a mere 26.2% find themselves at an acceptable symptom state and more than two third considered themselves as treatment failure after MMPRT-repair.
