Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a potential adjuvant treatment for musculoskeletal pathologies due to its capacity to stimulate tissue repair and regeneration. However, the current evidence regarding its effectiveness remains inconclusive, despite recent high-quality studies suggesting that it can improve pain and function in the mid-term follow-up. One of the primary obstacles in the literature is the substantial variation in PRP characteristics, including platelet concentration, the presence of leukocytes, and the activation process.
