Reconceptualization of Sport and Quality of Life Following ACLR

Description

This longitudinal qualitative study explored how young athletes undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) define quality of life and the change or stability of this definition across time. Twenty participants were interviewed pre-operatively and one year post-operatively. Young athletes who had an ACL injury defined quality of life based on social support and connection, sport, health, and independence. Quality of life was reconceptualized across the recovery process through both pre-operative processes of reframing and post-operative processes of reprioritization.
