Arthroscopic masif rotator cuff repair with Biseps tendon augmentation

Description

Migration of the humeral head superiorly is a result of rotator cuff arthropathy secondary to rotator cuff failure. Young and active patients who are suffering from irreparable fatty degenerated rotator cuff tears are not appropriate candidates for reverse total shoulder replacement. Superior capsuler reconstruction (SCR) is a good option for those patients. SCR has been recently presented as a possible alternative in treating irreparable cuff tears. However, two major problems exist for this new treatment option. The first problem is the viability of graft. The second problem is either the need for another operation procedure for TFL harvesting or the need for additional cost to use dermal graft as an alternative. To overcome these problems, long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT) is used for superior capsular reconstruction with partial rotator cuff repair.
